Classic Italian Cocktails & Traditional Italian Drinks

Updated: November 21, 2024

While perusing the dinner menu at Partenope Ristorante to consider what you have a taste for, we suggest you check out the options of our Italian cocktail menu, too. Partenope Ristorante offers a wide selection of Italian drinks to enjoy before, during, or after your meal.

Our cocktails are traditional Italian and made to savor with a blend of flavors while mostly avoiding the sweet tastes often found in American cocktails. One of our Italian drinks may just become your next go-to beverage.

The Negroni: A Classic Italian Aperitif

The Negroni was created more than a century ago, just after the turn of the 20th century. It has become a classic Italian aperitif and is considered a bolder version of an Americano.

The Florence bartender who created it substituted gin for soda water to offer to the Italian Count Camillo Negroni, who was looking for a drink with a bit more kick. Today, Partenope Ristoranti’s Negroni is prepared with gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth with an orange slice for garnish.

The Aperol Spritz: The Iconic Orange-hued Cocktail of Italy

If you like spritzers and prefer a drink poured over ice, consider tasting an Aperol Spritz. This delightful Italian cocktail is reminiscent of Venice, where it was created during the 1950s. While sipping on an Aperol Spritz, let it take you away to northeastern Italy, home to Venice and the Vento region.

Made with prosecco, Aperol, and club soda poured over ice, after having one, you may start craving an Aperol Spritz.

The Espresso Martini: A Modern Twist on the Traditional Italian Coffee Culture

Since Italy was the first country to develop the espresso brewing method, it makes sense that the Espresso Martini might have originated there, too. Espresso is most heavily consumed in Trieste, Italy’s northeastern coffee port across the Adriatic Sea from Venice. After dining on antipasti, risotto, or pizza, Italians in this region often enjoy a cup of espresso. You may wish to follow their lead with an Espresso Martini with a similar meal choice.

While this beverage is considered Italian, it was, however, created in London during the 1980s. If you like a traditional martini and are a fan of Espresso, put this cocktail on your radar.

While there are some slight variations to the recipe, the Espresso Martini is generally made with coffee liqueur, freshly brewed expresso, and vodka, and we are sure you will enjoy ours. This drink was originally called Espresso Vodka, but Espresso Martini was a catchier name.

The Limoncello Spritz: The Famed Lemon Liqueur of the Amalfi Coast

Created as an adaptation to the Aperol Spritz, the Limoncello Spritz quickly became a favored cooling beverage in the warmer area of Southern Italy’s Amalfi coast. And a Limoncello Spritz is the perfect pairing for one of our seafood entrees.

Partenope Ristorante has created its own unique frozen version, a perfect way to cool off on a hot Texas summer evening. It should come as no surprise that limoncello is the standard ingredient, accompanied by Prosecco and soda over ice. Our frozen drink is garnished with a slice of lemon and is molto bene (very good), of course!
